Baháʼí Naw-Rúz, Gilbert Celebration

Naw Rúz marks the Spring Equinox and is the first day of the Bahá’í and Zoroastrian New Year. This holiday symbolizes the springtime renewal of the world after the dark and cold of winter. Naw Rúz is one of nine Bahá’í major holidays. Often celebrations include prayer, food, gathering together and gifts. The Religion Media Center shares that “Naw-Rúz is a time for celebration but also the reviving of an individual’s spiritual life, and a renewed focus on the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, particularly given that it is at the end of the fast, which is a time of meditation and reflection for Bahá’ís.”

The Gilbert Bahá’í Community will be celebrating this on Saturday, March 22 from 6-9pm at the Freestone Community Center.
